"I learned a lot about business culture in different parts of the world and how you can really make a difference for your customers," says Linn.
It was also culture that led her to us at Plantvision. But let's reverse the tape and find out a little more about who Linn is outside of work.
From the city of birches to the Venice of the North
Growing up just outside Umeå and educated at Umeå University, Linn has always had a strong connection to nature and the outdoor life of Norrland. She has long been an enthusiast for winter activities, and cross-country skiing has been a particular favorite - although the skis now mostly come with her when she visits home. Today Linn lives in Stockholm and works at our office in Kista. There, she enjoys exploring the city's cultural offerings and seeks out new influences, whether it's through travel, visiting museums or trying new activities.
Linn prefers to spend her summers on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia, where she finds peace in the company of her family, long hikes and kayaking. Two years ago, she also took on a whole new challenge: horseback riding.
"Facing my fear of horses has really challenged and inspired me. It has also given me a new dimension in my interest to try something outside my comfort zone," says Linn.
Brave to dare and want to take on something that is foreign and a little scary, go Linn! Now we change track and return to the story of Linn's role with us at Plantvision.
An unexpected career choice with the right feeling
When Linn's friend recommended Plantvision, she was hesitant at first, but a job ad caught her eye. She applied for the position, but when the role went to someone else, she was offered a position in another department instead. This meant a career change from Life Science to digitalization, technology and IT solutions. The role focused on sales and business development, as well as working with industry and technology experts to reach even more companies and showcase our offerings in these areas.
"I had gotten such a good feel for Plantvision during the recruitment process, so changing direction felt exciting and natural," she says.
The new role gave her the opportunity to work on the digitization of production and manufacturing processes, and she was quickly hooked.
A role that brings people and technology together
Today, Linn is a Consultant Manager at Plantvision, where she leads a team that develops and implements system solutions to digitalize production. Her team helps companies to digitalize, streamline, improve quality and increase traceability in their manufacturing processes.
"It's incredibly inspiring to be part of the innovation we deliver to customers, and to see how my team develops, both on an individual and group level" explains Linn.
Her daily work is very much about communication, both with clients and internally, to ensure that the team is working towards common goals and delivering the best solutions. Linn echoes the commitment of the team and emphasizes that the work is truly a team effort.
"The employees in the group take great responsibility in everything from customer dialogs, deliveries and for their own and the team's development. The commitment is great and it is with the employees' knowledge, ideas and desire to develop that I also get extra power and tools to work for the whole and for us to continue to develop and take new ground forward."
"In my role, I have personnel responsibility for the people in the team and am responsible for the growth and recruitment of the group as well as our customers, deliveries and our offer to the market. Our team helps companies, in all industries really, that have manufacturing processes; pharmaceutical companies, food manufacturers, biotech, life science, engineering industries and others."
The challenge of being a leader without being a technology expert
Leading a tech-savvy team, with both broad industry knowledge from, for example, the manufacturing industry and sharp cutting-edge expertise in, among other things, production systems, system development and AI applications, also has its challenges. Linn emphasizes the importance of being responsive and creating the conditions for the team's success, even if she herself does not have the technical expertise in all areas.
"I'm not the systems developer or the solutions architect, but I'm good at connecting people and making complex things easier to understand," she says.
It is in those moments, when the team finds solutions and overcomes challenges, that Linn feels most satisfied with her work.
"The most fun I know is to see what great solutions and innovations my team comes up with!"
The digital landscape in which Linn and her team operate requires an ability to understand and support clients' changing needs, while leading them through transformations. Linn and her team strive to balance innovation and flexibility to deliver sustainable solutions. For Linn, this means engaging with the team at the right time to create forward-thinking solutions that are aligned with customer objectives, without disrupting employees' work on other priority tasks. Maintaining this balance between continuity and rapid response makes the work particularly dynamic and inspiring, as no two days are the same.
From global to local - but always forward
Linn's experience from representing companies at international trade fairs and working with global customers has given her a unique understanding of both markets and customer relationships. At Plantvision, she now has the opportunity to combine that insight with a more local focus on Swedish industry.
"We help our customers to digitalize and make their production more competitive, which is incredibly central to Swedish industry," she explains. "What we implement often becomes the heart of their production, and to see that change up close is very rewarding."
Flexibility and cooperation in focus
With team members and clients spread across Sweden, a high degree of flexibility is required, which Linn greatly appreciates.
"The work-life balance opportunities here are fantastic," she says.
Although the team does not always sit together physically, Linn prioritizes creating a strong sense of togetherness through digital meetings and constant check-ins:
"We talk a lot digitally and have a common chat where we can share technical questions or just send a picture from our lunch walk," she says with a smile. "We all have different needs and wishes, and together we find ways that work for us when we are spread out during the day," she concludes.
The future of digitalization and Plantvision
Looking ahead, Linn is certain that digitalization will only become more important.
"Data has become increasingly central to our customers, and we have certainly seen that in recent years. Digitization is a broad concept, but it is clear that the ability to use data seamlessly will become even more important in the future. This is where I see that we can do a lot to strengthen the competitiveness of industrial companies. AI has been on everyone's lips in recent years, and going forward I think it will be naturally integrated into many processes."
She continues:
"As for my own professional role, the future is an open playing field that changes as the world moves - right now my focus is on developing our offering, our customer relationships and our team, and I see no limits to what we can achieve together."
Linn also has no hesitation in recommending Plantvision as an employer, for which we humbly thank him.
"The best thing about Plantvision is the people and the flexibility and room for maneuver I have in my role," she says. "There is a desire to constantly evolve and I am proud to be part of that journey."
With her strong belief in people and technology, and with a constantly positive outlook on challenges and opportunities, Linn continues to drive the development forward at Plantvision - together with her strong team.
Thanks Linn for the chat and thanks to you and your team for all the innovative and exciting solutions you bring to solve our customers' challenges!
