PlantVision was formed in January 1999. The company's history, however, dates back five years prior to this. At the end of 1993, Tillquist Process received an order from LKAB for a comprehensive information system for its production in Kiruna, Sweden. The assignment for LKAB became the foundation for a new business area within Tillquist Process focusing on production information management systems.
In 1998 the business area was acquired by external investors, with the purpose of further developing the concept. This was the start of PlantVision.
From the beginning, AspenTech was a key strategic partner for operations. Before long, Thermo LabSystems, now ThermoFisher Scientific, also joined the team. With these partnerships in place, the groundwork was laid for PlantVision's mission – to lead the way in production information technology.
Between 2001 and 2006 the company succeeded in growing organically with profitability.
In 2007, PlantVision acquired Validera, a consultancy company specializing in validation and quality assurance within automation and IT, as well as PlantSolutions, a company working with industrial IT and automation. The acquisitions led to synergies in many fields, brought a partnership with Siemens, and established two new business areas within PlantVision.
During 2010, new partnerships were established with Wonderware and Preactor.
Today, PlantVision has around 100 employees and an annual turnover of around 110 million Swedish Kronor. The head office is located in Kista (Stockholm) and the company has additional offices in Malmö, Gothenburg, Uppsala, Sundsvall and Södertälje.
The company's goal is to continue to grow with profitability by delivering qualified consulting and integrated solutions to the process and manufacturing industry.
